The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested 31-year-old Miriam Nyamayegore in connection with the murd3r of her 72-year-old grandmother, Rachel Tekenende, at their residence in Granary Phase 2B, Zvimba.
According to reports, the suspect and the victim got into an argument over an undisclosed issue, which escalated to physical viol3nce.
Miriam allegedly struck her grandmother on the head with a hoe, causing serious inj_ries. The victim was taken to Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, where she later succumbed to her inj_ries.
The police investigation revealed that the motive behind the murd3r was an argument between the two family members. The suspect was arrested on July 6 2024, and is currently being held in custody pending further investigation and possible charges.
Detectives are working tirelessly to gather more evidence and piece together the events leading up to the m_rder.
Miriam Nyamayegore is expected to face charges of murder when she appears in court. The case is still under investigation, and further charges may be added as new evidence emerges.
The ZRP calls on the public to resort to alternative methods of conflict resolution, refraining from physical vi0lence to prevent such incidents from occurring.
