Controversial businessmen Wicknell Chivayo and Mike Chimombe have found themselves at the center of another controversy, with another alleged le@ked audio recording revealing their involvement in tender fraud.
The dispute between the two businessmen emerged when the funds began to be disbursed in March.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) launched an investigation after an earlier audio recording surfaced, in which Chivayo boasted about his close relationship with President Emmerson Mnangagwa and named individuals who received payments from the tender.
The new audio le@k shows Chivayo and Chimombe arguing over sharing profits from the deal.
In the recording, Chivayo can be heard reprimanding Chimombe, telling him to be patient.
Chivayo was reportedly in Namibia at the time of the conversation and asked Chimombe not to leave so many missed calls on his phone regarding the unsaid deal.
Chivayo warns Chimombe that he has other deals that his friends know nothing about, daring him to try and stop his deals. The audio recording raises more questions about the extent of corruption involved in the tender and whether other officials received payments from the deal.
