Sharing her experience online, Rachel captioned the ,”Thailand diaries! Things got cozy the orangutan……the hands were softer than I thought 😁”
The post quickly gained traction, drawing reactions ranging from amusement to concern.
The orangutan, a resident of Safari World zoo in Bangkok, has become a local celebrity for his playful antics with tourists.
One of his roles is to pose with visitors for photos, but he has learned the trick of touching women’s cleavage and giving kisses, much to the delight and encouragement of handlers and tourists alike.
This playful behavior has turned into a popular attraction, with many women flocking to the zoo specifically to be groped by the orangutan.
Videos and photos of these encounters have become social media sensations, adding to the zoo’s appeal.
However, not everyone is amused by the orangutan’s antics. Animal rights groups, including PFTA, have expressed serious concert ut the use of orangutans for tost entertainment in Thailand.
They argue that such practices humiliate and exploit these intelligent creatures.
PETA has previously called for a ban on photo sessions with orangutans, stating that the animals are often subjected to harsh training methods and deprived of their natural habitats and behaviors.
The viral incident with Dr. Mbanje has reignited the debate over animal rights and the ethical treatment of wildlife in captivity. While many see the photos as harmless fun, others are calling for a reevaluation of how animals are used for human amusement.
Despite the controversy, Dr. Mbanje appears to have taken the encounter in stride, enjoying her moment with the playful primate.
