A disturbing video has been circulating on X, showing a woman in her mid-20s being covered in mixed flour by an angry mob, allegedly for stealing a pair of shoes from a retail store in Kwekwe.
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with some netizens defending the woman and others calling for her to be handed over to the police.
Many X users have come to the woman’s defense, saying that she should not be blamed or punished without a fair trial.
I feel sorry for her. Women never do this for the sake of it. There’s something terribly wrong at home” wrote one user.
On the other hand, some users have expressed support for the mob’s actions, saying that the woman deserves punishment for her alleged crime.
“If you steal from someone’s store, you should expect consequences,” wrote another user. “Covering her in flour is a small price to pay for stealing someone’s property.”
The incident highlights the ongoing problem of theft and shoplifting in Kwekwe and other parts of Zimbabwe.
The police is yet to comment on the incident, but it is hoped that they will take swift action to address the issue and ensure that justice is served.
