Over the weekend, a 17-year-old girl was placed under arrest after a video of her sh00ting a g_n at a Gauteng cemetery went viral on social media.
She was located and apprehended at her residence by the Gauteng Anti-Gang Unit, and she is presently being detained in the Walter Sisulu Juvenile Center. In addition to looking for the g_n used in the crime, police are also looking into the possibility of other parties being involved.
This arrest is a part of Gauteng police’s bigger campaign to combat crime, which has already seen the recovery of over 1,400 rounds of ammunition and 63 firearms in the last week.

Police in Westbury and Rosettenville apprehended five people in two different incidents involving the recovery of firearms and a st0len vehicle, following an attempted carjacking.
Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, the commissioner of Gauteng police, thanked his staff for their work and gave the community his word that they would keep trying to make the community secure for all residents.
Ballistic testing will be performed on the recovered firearms to see whether they have any connections to other significant crimes.
