Zimbabwe National Students Union (Zinasu) president Emmanuel Sitima has been released on US$100 bail after a brief court appearance on charges of criminal nuisance.
Sitima, who will return to court on July 31, was accused of participating in a protest at the Harare Magistrates’ Court on June 27, where he and others allegedly chanted slogans, held placards, and used @busive language after 79 CCC members were denied bail.

In a separate incident, Zinasu reported that riot police brut@lly att@cked and arrested over 60 students at the ZESA National Training Centre during a general council meeting.
Eyewitnesses described police using batons to be@t students, leaving many !njured and others arrested.
The incident has sparked outrage among student organizations and human rights groups, who see it as a vi0lation of freedom of assembly and expression.
Reports suggest that police may have been tipped off about the meeting after students received mysterious phone calls from unknown numbers.
