In a celebration of cultural exchange and heritage, King Misuzulu kaZwelithini and traditional leaders are set to embark on a journey to Malawi for the esteemed Umthetho Cultural Festival.
The event, taking place on August 3, 2024, at the Hora Heritage Centre, promises to be a vibrant showcase of traditions and customs.
To facilitate this meaningful trip, the Zulu royal house has requested R3 million to cover the costs of their one-way journey. KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli confirmed the estimated expenses, while engaging in discussions with Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi to finalize the arrangements.

Accompanying King Misuzulu will be esteemed amakhosi, izinduna, royal family members, and senior government officials, ensuring a grand representation of the Zulu kingdom.
While some officials have expressed surprise at the request, the Zulu head of regiments, Muzi Mnyandu, has confirmed the trip’s approval.
As the kingdom prepares for this cultural exchange, the focus remains on the significance of preserving and celebrating heritage.
