The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) are demanding severe consequences for a group of students at Pinelands High School who staged a mock slave auction, “selling” their black classmates.
The incident, captured on video and shared on social media, has sparked outrage.
While several students have been suspended pending an investigation, the EFF wants the perpetrators expelled from the school system and forced to perform community service in black townships, accompanied by their parents.

The disturbing footage shows black students being auctioned off to their coloured classmates, with bids ranging from R50,000 to R100,000, and even an offer to buy a classmate using Bitcoin.
A concerned parent, Merle Potgieter, reported the incident to the school after her 14-year-old son was attacked by a group of boys who tried to include him in the mock auction.
The EFF has threatened to protest and shut down the school if their demands are not met.
