American actress and comedian Tiffany Haddish has come under fire for her reaction to a well-stocked supermarket in Harare, Zimbabwe.
In a video posted on social media, Haddish expressed her astonishment at the modern store, marveling at the variety of products on offer.
As she walked through the aisles, Haddish repeatedly emphasized her surprise, saying “In Africa, baby… Believe it!” She seemed particularly impressed by the availability of organic strawberries, sugar cane, and dated products.
However, many viewers took issue with Haddish’s reaction, accusing her of perpetuating negative stereotypes about Africa being underdeveloped.

Critics argued that her surprise and amazement reinforced harmful assumptions about the continent’s infrastructure and access to resources.
Haddish’s video sparked a heated debate about cultural sensitivity, representation, and the need to challenge preconceived notions about Africa. While some fans defended her intentions, others called for greater awareness and understanding in her future interactions with diverse cultures.
