Aleck Dzepatsva, a car dealer, faced charges of theft in a Harare court yesterday for allegedly ste@ling a luxury vehicle worth over $90,000 in South Africa and selling it in Zimbabwe.
Dzepatsva, represented by lawyer Malvern Mapako, was granted $600 bail and ordered to surrender his passport and report weekly to the Vehicle Th3ft Squad.
According to the State, Dzepatsva and an accomplice stole a silver Ford Everest in Pretoria, South Africa, on April 25, 2024.

Dzepatsva then smuggled the vehicle into Zimbabwe, altered the chassis number, and removed the registration plates before selling it to Asante Brandon.
The vehicle was later taken to Auto Expo Car Sale in Harare, where it was recovered on July 27 through a tracking device.
Dzepatsva’s case was remanded to September 27 for further proceedings.
