The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) have arrested a man identified as Simbarashe Kanje for murd3r and initiated a manhunt for his two accomplices, who have subsequently escaped.
ZRP is urging the community to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of the two wanted suspects, Benny Chipiwa and Tichaona Kanje.
The appeal follows a brutal m_rder that took place on April 7 2024, at the Cross Business Centre in Epworth, Harare.
According to the ZRP’s official Twitter account, the suspects reportedly @ttacked the victim, Prosper Jonasi, in a violent confrontation that began with a physical ass@ult.
“The suspects together with Simbarashe Kanje assaulted the victim, Prosper Jonasi with fists before stabbing him with an empty beer bottle on the arm. Simbarashe Kanje was arrested,” ZRP reported.
Witnesses claim that the assailants struck Jonasi with their fists before turning to a more lethal weapon – an empty beer bottle – which they used to stab him on the arm during the altercation.
The police have emphasized the seriousness of the incident and the implications of violent crime within the community.
They are keen to apprehend Chipiwa and Tichaona Kanje to ensure justice for the victim and to restore safety in the area.
In their statement, the ZRP encouraged anyone with information, no matter how trivial it may seem, to report it to the nearest police station.
