A 22-year old Brazilian swimmer ,Ana Carolina Vieira, has been expelled from the Olympic Games for leaving the Village without permission to spend the night in Paris with her boyfriend, another swimmer named Gabriel Santos.
The incident led to her being immediately sent back home and forced to withdraw from her remaining competitions.
Ana Carolina Vieira and Santos snuck out of the Olympic Village after their country was eliminated from the 4X100m freestyle relay event. They left the Village without permission and out of the Olympic Committee’s knowledge.

On July 26, Vieira disregarded the rules and joined Santos for a night out without the Committee’s authorization. As soon as the Brazilian Olympic Committee learned about her unauthorized absence and subsequent unprofessional conduct, Vieira was promptly removed from the delegation while Santos received a warning.
Ana faced disciplinary action by the Olympic Committee for her unprofessional conduct when confronted about the matter.
Brazilian media reported that she verbally abus3d the Committee, which was described by the committee as “disrespectful” and aggressive.
Vieira’s behavior resulted in her immediate expulsion from the delegation, and she was sent back home.
Her boyfriend, Gabriel Santos, was also disciplined and received a warning after he apologized for the rule-breaking.
The Brazilian Confederation of Aquatic Sports (CBDA) and the COB punished both athletes for leaving the Olympic Village without authorization.
Gustavo Otsuka, the leader of Brazil’s swim team, reminded Vieira and Santos that the Olympic Games were not a vacation or a time to play around. Rather, they were there to work for Brazil, for the 200 million taxpayers who had supported them.
