The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon F. T Mhona has launched the Heroes and Defence Forces Holidays Road Safety awareness campaign at Rainbow Towers Hotel in Harare.
Running under the theme “Be A Road Safety Hero”, the awareness campaign was launched on the 7th of August 2024.
Minister Mhona appealed to motorists both in public and private transporters to understand that they carry the lives of people in their hands, hence the need for them to preserve the sanctity of human life by avoiding recklessness on the roads.
Hon Mhona also discouraged motorists from drinking and driving, speeding and overloading as they lead to the manifestation of human error, which attribute to the high rate of road crashes.
During the campaign, Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Hon Kazembe Kazambe who also attended the event, he called upon all road users to ensure that their behavior on the roads is beyond reproach and emphasised that police will be in full force across the country’s roads during the holidays.
