A significant bust by the Limpopo police’s Anti-Smuggling Task Team has led to the arrest of a 32-year-old suspect in connection with a st0len white Toyota Land Cruiser Prado.
According to IOL, the authorities acted swiftly on a tip-off regarding a vehicle being smuggled into Zimbabwe through the Beitbridge border crossing.
Thanks to the timely intelligence, the police were able to intercept the st0len vehicle and apprehend the individual, dealing a blow to criminal activities in the region.
The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of collaboration and swift action in combating cross-border crime.
“The (police) team responded promptly, and a white Toyota Prado VX, which was reported stolen on Monday, 05 August 2024 in Villieria policing area, Pretoria in Gauteng province was spotted at the R37 from Lebowakgomo to Polokwane,” said Limpopo provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
The police intercepted the popular SUV, and upon searching it, Ledwaba said the driver, “who is a South African national, was unable to produce the valid documents of the vehicle”.
“The police established that the vehicle, a white Toyota Prado, is at a value of R900,000,” Ledwaba added.
