The former Member of Parliament for for Magwegwe constituency in Bulawayo, Felix Magalela Sibanda has condemned efforts by Zanu PF youths to extend President Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2028, calling for their arrest.
The opposition member criticised the push for term extension as a viol@tion of Zimbabwe’s Constitution, which limits a president to two five-year terms.
In a statement, Magalela emphasised that such actions are not only unconstitutional but also treasonous, urging Police Commissioner-General Godwin Matanga to take swift action against those pushing for Mnangagwa’s term extension.
“We, as concerned citizens, are calling and appealing to the Police Commissioner-General to move fast by arresting all these political zealots who want to cause untold socio-political upheavals in this country because of their self-preservation and selfish ends,” the former opposition senator said.
Felix Magalela Sibanda’s call comes at a time when all Zanu PF structures at provincial level have endorsed President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028, despite Mnangagwa publicly denying any intentions to extend his rule to 2030.
