South African celebrity Unathi Nkayi has spoken out about the demise of her friendship with reality TV star Somizi Mhlongo, revealing that she believes he sabotaged her career and personal relationships.
Nkayi claims that Mhlongo pursued her ex-husband, causing a rift in their friendship.
Furthermore, she accuses Mhlongo of orchestrating her dismissal from the TV show Idols, where they both worked as judges.
Nkayi took a strong stance against abus3, which led to her fallout with Mhlongo, who had faced allegations of abus3 and temporarily stepped down from the show.
When discussions of his return began, Nkayi alleges that he demanded her removal from the show as a condition of his comeback.
This shocking revelation has shed light on the behind-the-scenes drama and power struggles in the entertainment industry.
’I knew it was coming because Somizi was coming back, I knew he wouldn’t want to work with me after the stance I took,’’ she said.
Unathi Nkayi revealed that her friendship with Somizi Mhlongo ended because she refused to stand by him despite his history of s3xual misconduct.
In 2008, Mhlongo was convicted of a s3xual offense, and Unathi made it clear that she doesn’t tolerate or defend such behavior.
The two were once close friends and colleagues, but their relationship took a turn for the worse after Unathi’s divorce from Thomas Msengana, her husband of 13 years. Unathi felt betrayed when Somizi, who was a mutual friend, chose to support Thomas during and after the divorce, ultimately leading to the demise of their friendship.
