The English Premier League club, Southampton are in advanced talks with Chelsea to sign Lesley Ugochukwu on a season-long loan.
Southampton who return to the Premier League this season are in the market to boost their squad so that they can survive from relegation again.
The deal will not include an option for Southampton to buy Ugochukwu, a sale is being ruled out despite multiple enquiries. Fabrizio Roman confirmed the development on his X page.
“Lesley Ugochukwu, set to join Southampton on loan deal with NO buy option clause included. Chelsea believe in Lesley’s potential as future part of first team, same as Andrey Santos,” he said
The 20-year-old midfielder, Lesley Ugochukwu joined Chelsea for around €27.5million (£23.5m) last summer and signed a seven-year deal with the option of a further 12 months.
He had featured regularly in Mauricio Pochettino’s squads in the first half of the season and made 13 first-team appearances before a hamstring injury sustained in December ruled him out until May.
