A devastating road traffic accident occurred on August 17, 2024, at approximately 2015 hours, at the 9.8-kilometer peg along the Gweru-Mvuma Road, claiming the lives of both the driver and passenger of a Honda Fit vehicle.
The tragic incident unfolded when the Honda Fit side-swiped an AUD Corona truck, which was transporting nine passengers, before violently colliding head-on with an Inter Africa bus that was carrying 66 passengers at the time.
Despite their efforts, the two occupants of the Honda Fit were pronounced d3ad at the scene, while passengers from the other vehicles sustained various inj_ries and were transported to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
In another road traffic accident , the ZRP confirmed a fatal road traffic accident which occurred on 17 August 2024 at around 2320 hours along Seke Road opposite Zororo Cemetery, Chitungwiza.
A Honda Fit vehicle with two occupants veered off the road before overturning and landing on its wheels. Subsequently, the driver and passenger di3d on the spot.
The police force continues to emphasize the critical need for road safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
