Mthokozisi Cyril Mdlalose, a self-described prophet and traditional healer, has been imprisoned for an extended period of time following extensive detection work and an investigation into three incidences of r@pe by a detective from the family vi0lence, child protection, and s3xual crime section.
On Wednesday, August 21, Mdlalose, 37, was sentenced to five life terms in jail and an extra thirty years in the Nquthu Regional Court.
Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi of KwaZulu-Natal has commended the court for imposing a severe penalty and the investigator for his diligent job.
Mdlalose assumed the guise of a prophet and started r@ping. He made a bogus prophecy to an eighteen-year-old girl, saying she was bewitched and would d!e.
Then he gave her instructions to come to his Traditional hut, his eMadresini house, so he could lift the curse.
When the victim’s mother heard about it, she decided to believe the prophet and let her daughter to see him at his house.
The 18-year-old was instructed to lie on her back by the prophet, who then covered her body with ointment before r@ping her.
It happened in October 2020, during the Covid-19 pandemic, and the prophet urged the girl not to tell anyone. Eleven days later, he s3xually ass@ulted the victim once more. In February 2022, Mdlalose enticed a fifteen-year-old girl to his home with the same prophetic ruse.
Before r@ping her multiple times, he gave her the order to strip. A mother brought her 18-year-old daughter to Mdlalose in August 2022 under the guise of a traditional healer in order to get her cleansed. Mdlalose brought the girl to wash in a river.
