As you read this, Zimbabwe’s largest hospital, Sally Mugabe Hospital formerly known as Harare Hospital, is entirely out of painkillers and intravenous fluids.
Doctors have informed me that the situation is so dire that a patient with a broken thighbone from a road traffic accident was left in the Orthopedic ward without a single painkiller.
This crisis is a direct result of the looting of public funds that I have consistently exposed and discussed on this page.
It is a terrible tragedy that Zimbabwe’s healthcare system is in such a dire state that even basic medical supplies, like painkillers and intravenous fluids, are unavailable in the country’s largest hospital.
Meanwhile, the ruling tyrant, Emmerson Mnangagwa is busy ordering the construction of luxury airport VVIP lounge complexes and villas for the government elites when the health system has collapsed like this.
The fact that a patient with a severe injury, such as a broken thighbone, cannot receive proper pain management speaks volumes about the critical condition of Zimbabwe’s healthcare infrastructure.
Health administrators are powerless when politics deny them the necessary funds, as these funds are being looted.
This is why it is important for us not to be distracted by sideshows meant to stop us from this rot, imagine being in a hospital without a pain killer, the biggest hospital in your country!
