A young man in Uganda, Hajj Habib Nsikonnene, made headlines after marrying seven women on the same day.
He says he wants to create a big, happy family and might add more wives in the future, as polygamy runs in his family.
Last weekend in Mukono district, Nsikonnene had a grand wedding ceremony.
The seven brides—Aisha, Aisha, Fatuma, Sharifah, Rashida, Mariam, and Zainab—were first pampered at salons and then driven in special vans with their names on them.
Photos and videos of the parade through Kalagi, Kasana, and Nakifuma towns were widely shared on social media, getting many reactions.

Nsikonnene praised his wives, saying the oldest has been with him for seven years.
He chose to marry them all at once to avoid jealousy that might occur if he married them one by one.
He mentioned, “I introduced them separately but married them all together to form one big happy family. I’m still young and might add more in the future if God allows.”
His father, Hajj Abdul Ssemakula, supports this tradition, saying polygamy has always been a part of their family history. He shared that his grandfather had six wives, his late father had five, and he himself has four wives living together.
People have mixed reactions—some congratulated the new family, while others had concerns.
