Shepherd Mangwiza, a taxi driver, was viciously ass@ulted and robbed by a regular customer, Takudzwa Nyika, who teamed up with a gang of nine men.
According to media reports, the incident occurred on July 23 when Nyika hired Mangwiza to transport his supposed sisters from Sugar Mountain.
However, instead of picking up his sisters, Nyika returned with his accomplices, who att@cked Mangwiza with axes, machetes, and knives.
Mangwiza suffered severe !njuries, including multiple axe blows to the head, a machete wound to the chin, and injur!es to his mouth and hands.
He was left unconscious and bleeding, with the gang making off with his car and phone. A good Samaritan discovered Mangwiza and called the police, who rushed him to the hospital.
He spent a month recovering from his ordeal. Meanwhile, Nyika continued to use Mangwiza’s car, until a tip-off led to his arrest on September 1.
Nyika, 18, has been charged with robbery and appeared before magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa.
