A 27 year-old man from Kezi, known as Forget Ncube, has been arrested by the police for the alleged m_rder of his drinking companion, Evidence Maphosa, aged 28, following a dispute over beer.
This tragic incident occurred at Esiqongweni Bar in Sun Yet Sen, where the two men had been socializing and consuming alcohol together.
Tensions flared when Ncube accused Maphosa of drinking his beer, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated beyond verbal exchanges.
According to Matabeleland South police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena, the situation intensified when Ncube slapped Maphosa during the altercation.
Following this aggressive confrontation, Maphosa decided to leave the bar to avoid further provocation, hoping to diffuse the tension between them.
However, Ncube pursued him outside and, in a moment of uncontrolled rage, st_bbed Maphosa once on the left side of the chest with a knife.
Tragically, Maphosa collapsed and died on the spot due to the severity of the inj_ry.
Witnesses nearby reported the incident to the police immediately, prompting a swift response.
Officers arrived at the scene, apprehending Ncube and recovering the suspected m_rder weapon.
The police are now conducting further investigations to understand the full circumstances leading up to this tragic event.
As the investigation continues, Ncube is expected to face serious charges for his actions that have resulted in the loss of life.
