THE Zanu PF Women’s League has appealed to President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028.
The league’s National Executive Committee met in Harare yesterday to come up with resolutions which will be presented at the Annual National People’s Conference in Bulawayo next month.
Zanu PF Women’s League Political Commissar Cde Maybe Mbowa presented the resolutions from chair-ladies across the country.
“As the Women’s League, we are appealing to President Mnangagwa to remain in office beyond 2028.
“We are appealing to you Secretary for Women’s Affairs Cde Chinomona to deliver our message to the President. We are aware that he is a constitutionalist, but we are also involved in coming up with the constitution. We want him to remain in office beyond 2028,” said Cde Mbowa.
In response, Zanu PF Women’s League Secretary Cde Mabel Chinomona said she will deliver the message to the President as it is.
“President Mnangagwa is on record as saying the voice of the people is the voice of God, and as a listening President, I hope he will consider our plea,” said Cde Chinomona.
The league also congratulated President Mnangagwa for assuming the SADC Chairmanship.
Cde Chinomona said the league wanted more women across the country to be empowered so that credit goes to President Mnangagwa, the mastermind of the inclusive growth agenda.
President Mnangagwa’s administration did not want any woman to be left behind as women constituted a large percentage of the population.
Cde Chinomona said the drive to empower women across Zimbabwe should not be looked at using political lenses, exhorting all women to work hard and emulate President Mnangagwa whose shoulder is always on the wheel to drive the nation’s development agenda.
“As the Zanu PF Women’s League we fully support the inclusive growth rallying call of our President so that no one is left behind and we will be taking this programme to all corners of the country so that more women are equipped with skills to be self-reliant.”
Cde Chinomona called for unity of purpose among league members and commended President Mnangagwa for appointing more women into strategic positions.
The League’s Secretary for Administration, Cde Monica Mutsvangwa, said women should take empowerment projects seriously.
She said they are impressed with the developmental projects being spearheaded by President Mnangagwa.
