Multi-talented musician Jah Prayzah pulled off a spectacular prank on flamboyant businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, during a skit in which he seemed to raise the mogul’s blood pressure by suggesting that he had stolen his luxury car.
In the skit, which has since gone viral on social media, Jah Prayzah disguised himself as a businessman from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, whose car had been stolen by thieves.
Dressed in colourful attire, Jah approached Chiyangwa, asking him how he had acquired one of his SUVs, as the vehicle had been stolen from him.
An annoyed Chiyangwa then asked to phone the police, who he felt were best placed to address the issue. Throughout their discussion, Jah kept throwing accusations at Chiyangwa, who at one time asked him if he knew who he was.
“You’re Chiyangwa. I know you’re a fraudster,” said Jah Prayzah, much to Chiyangwa’s outrage.
At that point, the businessman’s equally indignant daughters had joined the scene, asking security details to escort Jah Prayzah away but to bring no harm to him.
After he had been escorted a short distance away, this is when Jah Prayzah, accompanied by the businessman’s daughters, revealed who he truly is.
Only then did the businessman realise that he was the butt of a particularly well-constructed joke.
The pair have a long standing relationship that extends beyond this latest skit.
In 2013, Chiyangwa paid $12 000 for one of Jah Prayzah’s albums, outclassing fellow politician and musician Energy Mutodi, who had pledged to buy it for US$1 000.
“I am the one who brought in the music icon Michael Jackson in 1998 and I continue to support musicians.
“Jah Prayzah is one musician who has managed to raise the Zimbabwean flag high, that is why I want to give him a stand,” said Chiyangwa at the time.
