Hip-hop star Holy Ten has confessed that he was intoxicated when he fell on stage at the recent Zimdancehall Cup Clash tourney at the City Sports Centre in Harare last weekend.
Videos of the rapper’s fall went viral on social media, with many suggesting that it was the clearest indication that the rapper was abusing intoxicating substances.
Holy Ten fell while performing his song Pressure, much to the amusement of hundreds of fans watching him perform.
In an interview with DJ Ollah 7 on his podcast, Holy admitted that he had taken alcohol before getting on stage.
“Yes, I was drinking beer. I love beer because ndozvatinomwawo after a long day. I take beer after a long day. We have a lot of respect for that,” he said.
Holy Ten went on to describe himself as a Zimdancehall artist, saying he had a lot of newfound respect for the genre after his attendance of the Zimdancehall Cup Clash tourney.
“Haa Zimdancehall haitongwe nemasalad. I am a Zimdancehall artiste! I am not a hip-hop artist. I stand with the Zimdancehall boys and I will always support them,” said Holy Ten.
The rapper said he had only distanced himself from the genre in the past because of its glorification of substance abuse.
“I’ve always had respect for Zimdancehall, but when it looked like they were mingling with drugs, I did not like that because I have lost a lot of people due to drugs like Guka and Broncleer,” he said.
