A 60-year-old KwaZulu-Natal teacher who was convicted of r@ping two young boys and then bribing them R2 to keep silent has received a double life term.
Colonel Robert Netshiunda, a spokesperson for the KZN South African Police Service (SAPS), stated that the youngsters were transported to the shop in July 2019.
“They were four and five at the time. Nkosi summoned them to his home, where he r@ped them. He then handed them R2 and instructed them not to inform anyone about what had occurred,” he alleged.
Netshiunda stated that one of the boys complained of soreness around his buttocks, and his mother examined him. “The incident was reported to the police, who arrested the culprit.
Netshiunda stated that the man, who was a teacher at the boys’ school, remained in detention until his sentencing.
A month ago, a man convicted of r@ping his stepdaughter received a four-year life sentence from the Camperdown Regional Court earlier this month. IOL reported that the man’s name has also been placed to the National Register of S3x Offenders.
“It sets a precedent and serves as a powerful deterrent for potential offenders. While the child will need years of therapy and the abuse will have a lasting impact, justice has been served.
This case sends a strong message to victims, encouraging them to come forward, knowing their voices will be heard and believed,” said Childline KZN director, Adeshini Naicker.
