Here is how they scam you with “Free Body Scan” in Harare

Here is how they scam you with “Free Body Scan” in Harare

In Harare, a troubling trend has emerged: scammers offering “free body scans” to unsuspecting pedestrians.

Often, young women in professional attire approach individuals with flyers, enticing them to visit nearby offices for what they claim is a groundbreaking health assessment.

While the idea of a free health check sounds appealing, these offers are elaborate scams aimed at stealing your money.

According to a research conducted by ZimPriceCheck, These scammers strategically target people who appear vulnerable, such as tourists or the elderly. Once they’ve lured someone in, victims are taken to an office where individuals posing as medical professionals await. Dressed in lab coats, they create a façade of authority without directly claiming to be doctors, avoiding legal repercussions.

Central to the scam is a device called the Quantum Resonance Magnetic Health Analyzer. Though it looks sophisticated, it’s nothing more than a collection of electrical components that falsely claims to diagnose various serious health conditions.

Victims undergo pseudo-medical tests and are then given alarming news about their health. They are directed to an in-house “pharmacist” who offers overpriced “treatments,” often just repackaged products like herbal teas, sold as miracle cures.

These scams pose significant risks, including:

– Delayed Medical Care: Victims may postpone seeing real doctors, believing they’ve had a thorough checkup.
– Health Risks: The herbal products sold may interact dangerously with existing medications.
– False Security:** A misleading clean bill of health can lead individuals to ignore actual health issues.

To avoid falling for these scams, remember:

– Legitimate medical professionals don’t solicit patients on the street.
– No single device can diagnose all diseases.
– If an offer seems too good to be true, it likely is.
– Always consult licensed professionals at registered healthcare facilities.

While the temptation of a free health scan is understandable in a country where healthcare is often costly, it’s vital to stay cautious.

The “free body scan” scams in Harare are merely tactics to exploit health concerns for financial gain. Always seek medical advice from trusted professionals to ensure your health and safety.
