A harrowing incident unfolded in Itezhi Tezhi district, Southern Province, when a 12-year-old girl was abducted from her family’s hut and subjected to a night of defilement by a 19-year-old neighbor, Twaambo Chiwiigi.
On September 12, the family retired to their respective huts after dinner, unaware of the impending horror. The next morning, the mother discovered her daughter’s absence while starting the day’s chores.
A frantic search ensued, and the girl returned home in the afternoon, revealing the shocking truth.
Chiwiigi had trespassed into her hut, taken her to his residence, and perpetrated the heinous crime throughout the night, releasing her the following afternoon.
Enraged, the parents attempted to confront the suspect but found he had fled.
The girl’s 42-year-old father reported the incident to Itezhi Tezhi Police Station, prompting Southern Province Police Commander Auxensio Daka to confirm the incident and launch a manhunt.
“A medical examination was conducted, and a docket opened. We urge anyone with information on Chiwiigi’s whereabouts to come forward,” Daka stated.
This disturbing incident highlights concerns about child safety and the need for vigilance within communities.
