Tragedy struck in South Africa’s Table Mountain National Park when 20-year-old American hiker Brook Cheuvront was found de@d after going missing during a solo hike.
A student from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Cheuvront was in Cape Town for an internship with a non-governmental organisation.
On Saturday, her friends alerted authorities when her tracking app stopped updating, and she couldn’t be reached.
A swift search operation was launched, involving rangers and wilderness search-and-rescue crews, assisted by a helicopter on Sunday.
Unfortunately, Cheuvront’s body was discovered on the slopes of Devil’s Peak.
