A cloud of controversy surrounds Aaron Chaka, who claims to be the late music legend Oliver Mtukudzi’s son, after he was reportedly barred from attending the Pakare Paye Arts Centre festival in Norton.
Social media platforms have been buzzing with reports and images showing a man resembling Chaka being turned away at the gate.
However, Chaka remained tight-lipped about the incident in an interview with H-Metro.
Chaka neither confirmed nor denied the alleged gate incident, citing concerns about journalistic accuracy.
Aaron Chaka, who claims to be the son of the late music legend Oliver Mtukudzi, recently faced a setback in his bid to change his surname to Mtukudzi. Chaka had sought a court order to compel the Registrar of Births and Deaths to replace his father’s surname and particulars with those of Mtukudzi.
According to Chaka, his mother, Rose Makumbe, had a love relationship with Mtukudzi in 1978, resulting in his birth in 1979. However, his parents separated, and his mother later married Josiah Chaka, who became his caregiver.
Chaka only discovered his biological father’s identity at age 25 and was introduced to Mtukudzi in 2010. Despite submitting affidavits from Mtukudzi’s family members acknowledging him as Mtukudzi’s son, the Registrar of Births and De@ths requested a court order, citing Mtukudzi’s popularity and status.
The High Court ultimately struck off Chaka’s application, ordering him to obtain scientific confirmation of his paternity through a DNA test.
