FC Wangu Mazodze is funded by the Richard Wangu Mazodze Family Trust, which recently ended its sponsorship agreement with Central Region Soccer League club FC Wangu Mazodze City due to issues with compliance and unmet targets.
Richard Wangu Mazodze, a businessman based in the United States, has also announced his intention to run for the ZIFA presidency in the upcoming elections. In one of his campaign videos, he remarked:
“I’m seriously considering my candidacy for the ZIFA presidency whenever elections are held. I want to provide an alternative leadership perspective that has not yet been explored in our local football.”
He emphasized his desire to serve his country and contribute positively to Zimbabwe’s football landscape.
“We aim to introduce a fresh approach to managing our football institution. ZIFA is one of the richest and most modern entities in Zimbabwe, but doing things the same way while expecting different results isn’t viable. It’s time for change.”
