Baba Harare, the former Zimbabwean jiti musician, has officially changed his name to King David, marking a transformation in both his identity and musical career.
He bid farewell to his former moniker, Baba Harare and embraced his new name as he steps into the world of gospel music.
The shift in his artistic direction is evidenced by the release of his latest gospel album, which features a sound and style that diverges from his previous jiti hits.
This decision to transition from secular to gospel music came during an eye-opening tour of Australia.
“Early this year, we travelled to Australia with my group where I had a sold-out show,” he shared. Despite the success and adoration from fans, King David felt a divine calling, stating, “God spoke to me and convinced me to quit secular music and serve Him.”
This bold move signifies not just a change in genre but a profound personal journey of repentance and dedication to a higher purpose in his life and career.
