A 44-year-old man from Karoi was recently arraigned before the Karoi Magistrates Court, facing serious charges related to s_xual offenses against a minor.
Reports indicate that the incidents began in June 2024, when the accused allegedly proposed a r0mantic relationship to a 13-year-old girl, to which she reportedly consented.
This relationship escalated, culminating in the accused engaging in s_xual int3rcourse with the complainant on one occasion.
Furthermore, in May of the same year, the accused crossed additional lines by inappropriately touching the girl and taking explicit photographs of her without her consent.
The case came to light after the accused’s wife discovered the disturbing images on his phone and promptly informed the complainant’s mother.
Concerned for her daughter’s safety, the mother filed a police report, leading to an investigation.
The gravity of the allegations prompted the court to take firm action, and the accused was ultimately sentenced to an effective period of 6 years and 6 months in prison for his offenses.
