Police have apprehended one of their own, a fellow officer accused of k!lling six individuals for the sake of insurance claims.
The accused, a 43-year-old sergeant stationed at the Senwabarwana police station in Blouberg, Limpopo, allegedly collected over R10 million in insurance payouts.
She had insured the lives of her victims and allegedly profited after their murd3rs.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe announced that the suspect is scheduled to appear in court at the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Friday.

She explained, “We received reports suggesting that a member of our department was tied to insurance-related crimes involving individuals heeded by her.
Most of these victims came from underprivileged backgrounds and placed their trust in her, resulting in her pocketing at least R10 million.”
The National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, expressed his support for the arrest, calling it a disgrace that one of their own could engage in such terrible acts. “As a police officer, their responsibility is to ensure community safety and security. It is utterly shameful for someone in such a role to exploit that trust.
This should serve as a stern reminder that the law will pursue and apprehend those who commit such offenses,” stated General Masemola.
The sergeant was detained after an extensive investigation led by Captain Keshi Mabunda revealed she was fraudulently benefiting from various funeral, accident, and life insurance policies.
Investigators found that her alleged killing spree began in 2019, targeting individuals she knew who were often disadvantaged, some suffering from disabilities or mental challenges.
She would take out life and funeral insurance policies in their names, with herself as the beneficiary.
