Three men from Gweru, identified as Zamani (46), Mehluli (37), and Mpilwenzima Ndlovu (34), have been sentenced to 30 years in prison after being convicted of the m_rder of a man they accused of referring to one of them as his brother-in-law.
The incident occurred on June 4 last year at a local shop where the men were drinking beer together with the deceased.
During their drinking session, the now-deceased addressed one of the brothers as his brother-in-law due to a familial connection involving a child he had with the brother’s sister.
This remark incited anger in the trio, who reacted violently by ass@ulting the man with their fists and continued their att_ck by striking him with a brick and ultimately st@bbing him with a knife.
The brutal assa_lt led to the man’s de@th, prompting immediate action from law enforcement.
The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe reported that the police were able to apprehend the assailants with assistance from the public.
During the court proceedings, the severity of the crime was highlighted, ultimately leading to the lengthy sentences imposed on the brothers.
