In a remarkable turn of events, Ropafadzo Msipa, a 25-year-old housekeeper employed at a local lodge in Chiredzi, has won a stunning smart house and an advanced Econet Smart House security system through the 2024 Econet Tapinda Sesingenile Promotion.
Her life took a dramatic shift after she recharged a mere US$5 airtime voucher, leading to her new three-bedroom smart house situated in Penrose Estate, Nyabhira, just 32 kilometers from Harare along Chinhoyi Road.
This modern abode features eco-friendly solar power and fitted cupboards, presenting an ideal living space for Ropafadzo. In an interview with The Mirror, she spoke of her disbelief and joy at such a life-changing win, initially mistaking the winning notification for a prank due to its unexpectedness; she hesitated to provide her identification details until receiving a follow-up call that confirmed the opportunity’s legitimacy.
Upon visiting Harare, she was ushered to her new house, filled with awe as she signed the necessary paperwork to finalize her ownership. Grateful for the windfall and the community spirit fostered by Econet Zimbabwe, Ropafadzo expressed her astonishment, noting how a simple US$5 recharge had drastically altered her life path, especially since she never anticipated becoming a landlord.
Meanwhile, the promotion not only recognized Ropafadzo as a winner but also celebrated others, including Rebecca Mushuku from Gutu and Memory Chinyama, who collectively walked away with various prizes like solar kits, gas stoves, smartphones, airtime, cash, and branded regalia.
