A shocking case of r@pe and deception has led to the conviction of Tendai Chikowore, a self-proclaimed prophet from Johane Masowe Echishanu Apostolic Church.
Chikowore was sentenced to 20 years in prison for r@ping a 31-year-old congregant at his shrine in Mutare.
According to reports, the victim sought spiritual guidance but was instead manipulated into bathing and applying ashes, then r@ped. Chikowore allegedly used his supposed powers to mute her voice, preventing her from screaming for help.
Following the diabolic conduct, Chikowore advised the complainant to stop arguing and fighting with the ‘Holy Spirit’. He advised her that she needed to be washed again with ‘holy water’ to regain her voice.
Ms Sayi stated that shortly after the r@pe, the complainant, who was unable to speak, proceeded to Mutare Central Police Station and reported the incident.
She filed a written complaint, which resulted in the arrest of the self-proclaimed prophet. Following the arrest and while at the police station, the investigating officer directed Chikowore to ”unmute” the complainant.
According to Ms Sayi, Chikowore complied and performed various rit_als, resulting in the complainant ”unmuting”.
The victim reported the crime in writing due to her temporary loss of voice. Only after Chikowore’s arrest and rit_als did she regain her voice.
