In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a 10-year-old pupil was found de_d by her uncle in Bulawayo after she allegedly took her own life.
On the afternoon of October 16, the child’s uncle, who is 18 years old, left her alone at home with her two-year-old cousin while he visited friends.
When he returned to collect a jacket, he heard the younger child crying and, upon entering the bedroom, discovered his niece hanging lifelessly from a roof truss.
Authorities report that she had used a rope to hang herself, employing a black plastic chair and an empty 20-litre container to elevate herself to the truss.
The shocking discovery prompted the uncle to immediately notify neighbors and the police, who are now conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her d3ath.
Bulawayo’s deputy police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, emphasized the importance of parental vigilance, urging caregivers to consistently monitor their children and engage in open communication to identify any potential problems early.
