A 25-year-old man, Michael Mtonga, has been arrested for allegedly murdering his 28-year-old wife, Rhoda Ng’oma, who intervened to stop him from att@cking his mother.
According to Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer, Robertson Mweemba, the incident occurred on Monday when Mtonga, under the influence of alc0hol, began assaulting his mother.
Ng’oma attempted to intervene, but Mtonga turned on her, st@bbing her in the stomach with a kitchen knife.
Mtonga then fled to Nkhanga area within Chasefu District, but was later apprehended by police.
“The suspect is currently in police custody and will appear in court soon,” Mweemba confirmed.
This incident highlights the growing concern of domestic vi0lence and alcohol-fueled crimes in the region.
