Newcastle United head coach and manager, Eddie Howe is reportedly on contract talks Alexander Isak a Swedish professional footballer who plays as a forward for Newcastle United.
Isak remains under contract until 2028 and preliminary discussions between the Magpies and the star over a new package were held before the summer.
“Alex has a long contract… and we have to be really careful with our spending”.
“I do NOT see short-term issue with his contract”, Howe said.
Isak has now scored 32 in his 58 top-flight appearances since arriving in a club-record £63m deal from Real Sociedad in 2022. For this season the striker has scored only once for the club.
Despite his poor form in front of goal, Arsenal and other Premier League clubs remain keen to sing the striker from St James’ Park when the transfer window reopens at the turn of the year.
Isak is understood to be settled and happy on Tyneside, but the 25-year-old is also known to be fiercely ambitious and is unlikely to be content with a long spell at Newcastle if the club are regularly failing to qualify for the Champions League.
