President Emmerson Mnangagwa, the First Secretary of the ZANU PF party and Commander-in-Chief of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces, today led a tree-planting exercise at Famona Fire Brigade Station Park in Bulawayo.
President Mnangagwa, alongside First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa, planted a Bolusanthus speciosus tree—known as Mukweshangoma in Shona, Impaca in Ndebele, or Tree Wisteria in English.
This indigenous species is native to Zimbabwe and the broader Southern African region.
Nick Mangwana, Permanent Secretary for Information, Publicity, and Broadcasting Services, confirmed the event on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “His Excellency the President and First Secretary of ZANU PF Cde Emmerson Mnangagwa and First Lady Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa will this morning lead a tree planting exercise at the Famona Fire Brigade Station Park in Bulawayo.”
Following the tree-planting activity, President Mnangagwa will deliver his closing remarks at the ZANU PF 21st National People’s Conference, which he officially opened on October 25.
