Mashonaland Central Province has become the second Province to benefit from distribution of a second batch of ambulances acquired by government as they gear up in improving health services delivery across the country.
The ministry of Health and Child Care has officially handed over three ambulances and five chemistry analyser machines. The provision of these ambulances in the province will assist with quick transportation of patients to medical facilities, therefore minimizing treatment delays.
Recently, it was the Midlands Province which benefited from the program after receiving four ambulances.
The Provincial Maternal and Child Health Officer, Dr Hellen Kabaya has confirmed the development during a brief with journalists.
“We received three ambulances and five chemistry analyser machines. We are very grateful as a province and express deep gratitude to the government for showing commitment to improving access and strengthening the quality of health services that we provide to Mash Central residents,” Dr Hellen Kabaya said.
Chemistry analysers are used to test and diagnose ailments affecting the liver and kidneys. The equipment comes ahead of the festive season, a busy period associated with an increase in road traffic accidents, thus necessitating speed in emergency response.
