One person has d!ed, and 31 others were !njured, including 25 primary school students, after a bus carrying them overturned near Rusape on Friday afternoon.
Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed that the bus was taking staff and students from Chipinge Junior Primary School.
The accident happened on November 1, 2024, at around 1:45 PM.
According to Nyathi, the Gold Class bus was traveling from Harare to Rusape with 53 students and seven staff members.
As the bus approached the 165 km mark on the Harare-Mutare Road, the driver tried to overtake a truck but lost control due to speeding. The bus then veered off the road, overturned, and landed on its side.
The deceased was a woman who d!ed at the scene. The injured were taken to Rusape General Hospital for treatment.
In a separate incident in Mutare on Thursday, two people were k!lled, and four others were !njured when a lorry carrying beer crashed into a boom gate at the Sakubva bus terminus.

Nyathi said this @ccident occurred around 5 PM. Investigations revealed that the driver was trying to park the lorry when it lost its brakes and crashed into the boom gate, hitting six vendors.
