The tragic incident that unfolded in Zvimba has cast a pall over the local community, highlighting the dire consequences of unresolved familial conflicts.
Viola Chitsinde, a heavily pregnant woman who was only 27 years old, lost her life in a brutal manner, allegedly at the hands of her 54-year-old estranged husband, Bernard Kufakunesu, during a meeting intended to address lingering issues in their tumultuous relationship.
The meeting, held on October 29, 2024, at the Masiyarwa Business Centre in Kutama, took a horrific turn when Chitsinde requested financial aid for a medical scan related to her pr3gnancy.
As tensions escalated into a vi0lent confrontation around 10 PM, Kufakunesu violently ass@ulted her using an electric cable, resulting in her tragic de_th.
Disturbingly, the couple’s four-year-old child was present and witnessed this heart-wrenching scene, undoubtedly leaving a lasting trauma on the young mind.
In a sh0cking attempt to cover up his crime, Kufakunesu wrapped Chitsinde’s body in a blanket and transported it in a wheelbarrow to a remote location in Mahere Village, where he callously discarded it.
The subsequent discovery of Chitsinde’s body by local villagers while they were collecting firewood led to an urgent response from authorities, culminating in Kufakunesu’s arrest and the initiation of m_rder charges against him.
