On November 5, 2024, Louis Serenetra Moyo, aged 49, was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Gauteng Division of the High Court of South Africa for the brutal murd3r of his 41-year-old lover, Thobile Grace Khoza, in a tragic incident that unfolded on March 12, 2024.
The viol3nt altercation arose during a domestic dispute concerning R15,000 that Khoza held in her bank account, which Moyo intended to use for a lobola payment.
In a fit of rage, Moyo brutally @ssaulted Khoza with various objects before ultimately st@bbing her and leaving her to bl3ed to d3ath in their shared residence.
Following the as$ault, he fled the scene, locking the room and hiding from authorities until his arrest three days later, where police discovered him with Khoza’s bank card, identity document, and cellphone.
Moyo pleaded guilty to both the murder and illegally residing in the country, acknowledging the severity of his crime, which the prosecution characterized as heinous and premeditated.
The judge, Dosio, condemned Moyo’s blatant disregard for the law and emphasized the increasing prevalence of gender-based vi0lence in South Africa, calling for more stringent penalties for offenders.
