Tendai Maredza, a 42-year-old male from Chisipiti, Harare, has been arrested for allegedly defrauding Dr. Eston Zvidza, a medical doctor, of $20,000. Maredza is accused of selling fake residential stands in Crowhill Borrowdale, Harare, and ignoring Dr. Zvidza’s calls when he tried to recover his money.
The Southern Africa Regional Anti-Corruption Organisation (SARACO) and the Police Anti-Corruption Unit collaborated to arrest Maredza on 6 November 2024 in Avondale, Harare. Dr. Zvidza had filed a fraud docket at ZRP Kensington base with RRB number 6190506.
Maredza is charged with contravening Section 137 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act (Chapter 9:23). He is expected to appear in court soon, and more land barons may be arrested following this joint operation.
This case highlights the ongoing efforts to combat corruption and fraud in Zimbabwe’s land sector. The collaboration between SARACO and the Police Anti-Corruption Unit demonstrates a commitment to tackling these issues .
