The Secretary- General of the uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party, Dr Sifiso Maseko has announced his resignation from his position. Maseko was appointed as the party’s Secretary- General on 28 June 2024 by Party leader, former president Jacob Zuma.
In a letter addressed to MKP President Jacob Zuma, dated 29 October 2024, Maseko stated he would officially vacate the role on 4 November 2024.
He explained that his decision was due to his return to his full-time position as the chief director of infrastructure at the Gauteng department of health, following the lifting of his suspension while awaiting the outcome of a disciplinary committee investigation.
Maseko succeeded former secretary-general Arthur Zwane, who had initially attempted to resign from the role before being later dismissed. On 1 July 2024, Zwane submitted a resignation letter to Zuma, citing an overwhelming workload and his desire to focus on his private businesses.
