The tragic d3ath of Benny Chidiwa, a 27-year-old man from Murereka, Lion’s Den, has ignited outrage over escalating viol3nce and vigilante justice within Zimbabwe, following a brutal ass@ult at Fairplay Farm near Chikuti, Chinhoyi, on November 8, 2024.
Chidiwa was subjected to a horrifying beating by three assailants, including a man named Goodwill Love, who has since been arrested for m_rder, while his accomplices, identified only as “Bigboy” and “Brave,” remain at large.
The viol3nce was triggered by allegations that Chidiwa stole a cellphone belonging to Bigboy, leading the assailants to employ extreme measures, including h!tting him with a shovel and logs and burning his feet in a cruel attempt to force a confession.
Nyathi noted that police are actively pursuing the suspects, who have yet to be apprehended, underscoring the severity of the crime and the immediate need for justice.
Chidiwa’s body was discovered at the scene, highlighting the fatal consequences of mob justice mentality that has become increasingly prevalent in the region.
In addition , police in Harare reported another m_rder occurring the same day, where an unidentified man was found de@d at a church shrine, prompting investigations as a bl00d-stained stone was discovered nearby, further calling attention to community safety.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police is urging anyone with information related to these cases to come forward, stressing the importance of cooperation from the community in curbing such acts of brutality.
