Descent Mhomho, a 23-year-old student at Chinhoyi University of Technology, recently found himself in legal trouble after appearing before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court for unlawful possession of d@gga.
On November 12, 2024, university security personnel received a tip-off regarding Mhomho’s alleged dr_g possession.
Acting promptly, they coordinated a search operation and approached his hostel room, designated as Room 223.
During the thorough search of the premises, security officials discovered a total of 49 grams of dagg@ hidden within the room.
Following this discovery, they arrested Mhomho and promptly handed him over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Chinhoyi for further processing.
In court, Mhomho faced legal repercussions for his actions, leading to a fine being imposed for his unlawful possession of the substance.
The court ordered him to pay a fine of USD30 or, alternatively, face 30 days of imprisonment should he default on the payment.
As part of the sentencing, the magistrate deemed it appropriate to also suspend an additional six-month prison term, conditional upon Mhomho refraining from committing any further offenses within a five-year period.
